#LBF2021 Sponsor Profile - De Montfort University

De Montfort University (DMU) is worth £500m to the UK economy every year. One in every 30 jobs in Leicester can be traced back to DMU, and it is in the top 10 UK universities for the most graduate and student start-up businesses. Because of this, DMU’s reputation for business support precedes its, and it provides a top-class package of business support.

DMU is the only UK university to be selected as a global hub for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It has close links with the UN and is the hub for SDG 16 – peace, justice and strong institutions. It is also home to the Cyber Security Centre, which is the only one in the East Midlands to be judged gold standard for teaching and research by the National Cyber Security Centre, part of GCHQ .

DMU delivers an average of 29,400 learner days of CPD for businesses every year. It has been a supporter of the Leicester Business Festival since its inception nine years ago, and headline partner for eight.

This year, DMU is hosting 18 events and is the theme champion for sustainability and connectivity. The university recognises LBF as one of the key ways to showcase what it can deliver for businesses, and how it can help support them to achieve their goals.

Some of the most exciting events at #LBF2021 that are being hosted by DMU include Digital Technology and the Future of Healthcare, which will explore how digital technologies have been used during the pandemic and consider the potential for driving change in health and social care provision. Going Net Zero will provide a toolkit for community organisations in Leicester to help them reduce their carbon footprint and become more sustainable, while Open Data and Economic Insight will teach attendees how to use big data to help inform growth. All of these DMU-hosted events and more can be found using the links above, or by heading to the #LBF2021 booking portal.

The #LBF2021 team at DMU is most looking forward to discovering new ideas that are borne out of the sessions that create new opportunities in Leicester. The Leicester Business Festival has a great track record of unearthing unforeseen new initiatives, and this is something the university finds incredibly valuable.
