Could music be the added boost your event or workplace needs?

Leicester Business Festival has announced it is partnering with TheMusicLicence by PPL PRS for its 2023 festival to highlight the research-led benefits of playing music in the workplace and at the festival events themselves.

In January 2023, a consumer research survey was conducted on 500 people who currently work in UK offices and workplaces where music is played. The responses revealed the consistent benefits experienced by employees, such as boosting the mood, helping to create a more welcoming and uplifting environment and staff feeling more focused.

Bethany Grundy, Head of Marketing & PR at PPL PRS, explains: “The most standout result of the research was 93% of people agreed that playing music can create a calmer environment, and can help to alleviate stress and anxiety.

"Music can provide solutions. From the beat of the music keeping momentum through to an immersive experience. Importantly, music can unite and bring an element of fun.

“For those running a Leicester Business Festival event, music can make your event stand out and encourage better networking and a more welcoming atmosphere.”

The Health and Safety Executive reported in November 2022 that stress, depression or anxiety and musculoskeletal disorders accounted for the majority of days lost due to work-related ill health in 2021/22, 17.0 million and 7.3 million respectively. Music could therefore be part of the answer to helping reduce these numbers and enhance people’s health and wellbeing.

Bethany continues: “To play music in the workplace or at an event, it is important that the right music licence is in place. Getting a licence is straightforward, you can simply apply online. There are special licensing tariffs for different types of businesses and activities. Without a licence, you are infringing copyright if you play live or recorded music in public.

“We can help businesses purchase TheMusicLicence suited to them. A licence also means businesses are supporting the future of music by helping to ensure its creators are paid for their work.”

If you want to understand more about how music could benefit your business, then you can find out more on the PPL PRS website.

Up to 80 events will be running during Leicester Business Festival 2023 which runs from 6 - 17 November. Booking on to an event is simple through the Leicester Business Festival website.
