2020 Leicester Business Festival launches as event applications open
Businesses have the chance to take part in the 2020 Leicester Business Festival (LBF) as the application process to host an event has now opened.
The LBF fortnight - now in its sixth year - will be taking place as planned from 2 to 13 November 2020.
There are arrangements in place to allow the Festival to be completely adaptable depending on the Government guidelines at the time. Events will be able to run as purely digital; as physical events (as is hoped will be possible in November) or, a combination of the two with the physical events being live-streamed.
To run an event, businesses should log on to the LBF website here and complete the short application form. Events can be submitted until 1 September.
The Business Festival’s headline partner is De Montfort University. Helen Donnellan, director of business engagement said, “The LBF has been a brilliant resource that has been a part of the Leicestershire businesses community for the past five years and I am pleased it will remain as a compelling feature in the business calendar.
“Here at DMU we absolutely recognise the potential of the Festival in helping to revitalise and re-unify the business community. We are proud to be a part of such an important initiative that is supporting, re-igniting and driving re-engagement amongst businesses across Leicester & Leicestershire as we emerge from this incredibly difficult period.”
Alister de Ternant, managing director of Associate Events (the agency managing the LBF programme) said, “We feel that now is the right time to open up the applications to host events in the Festival. People will be looking for an injection of optimism and the LBF is the perfect medium for this.
“Without knowing exactly how the land will lie in November, we have adapted the LBF to accommodate different eventualities. We know that digital events have the capacity to work very well for seminars and presentations, but this format could also lend itself very well to events such as ‘behind the scenes’ factory tours, where companies can demonstrate and promote their capabilities, for example.
“The LBF is embracing new ways of working and we would like to encourage businesses to do this same, capitalising on what the Leicester Business Festival can offer to re-engage, re-activate and promote themselves.”
The LBF was originally established by the Leicester & Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) in 2015 and handed over to the Leicester Business Festival Community Interest Company (under which it still operates) in 2017. It is headline partnered by De Montfort University and is run in association with Associate Events. Partners are East Midlands Chamber and Business Gateway Growth Hub. Sponsors are Brewin Dolphin; Pattersons Commercial Law. and supporters are: Everards Brewery; Leicester Castle Business School (DMU); and Team Leicester. Media partners are Metro News and the App partner is Infonote.
