Brewin Dolphin leads wealth of professional and financial services events in Business Festival

Leicester Business Festival’s Professional Services sector is being fronted by one of the UK's leading wealth managers, Brewin Dolphin.

Scott Charlish, head of financial planning for Brewin Dolphin in the East Midlands, is the Business Festival PFS sector lead, championing both the industry and the Festival(running from 29 October to 9 November), on a local regional and national level.

There is a grand total of 19 different Professional Services events taking place over the fortnight - testament to the strength of the sector in the region, which encompasses nearly 8,000 businesses and accounts for around one third of the economic activity within the city centre.

Other noteworthy firms located in the area include Santander, Mattioli Woods, Hastings Direct, Brewin Dolphin, Freeths, KPMG, PKF Cooper Parry, Weightmans, Pattersons Commercial Law and many others. A significant number of small to medium businesses ranging from independent companies to regional offices representing larger organisations, make up the bulk of the sector.

Free professional and financial services advice will be on offer in the Festival for companies and individuals to come and find out more about a range of subjects from protecting their IP, business, assets and family; private equity finance and discussions on the gender pay gap to equality and diversity and music licensing.

Scott said, “The Business Festival offers a great opportunity for the Leicester and Leicestershire professional services sector to shine a light on its wide expertise. It has the ability to assist both local and national firms in their development.

“Many of the UK’s largest professional service firm names have retained a Leicestershire presence, which is indicative of the strength of the sector in our region. In addition, we have a number of more locally based firms who also offer first class services to the people of Leicestershire.

“I am delighted, once again, to be associated with the Festival. I am sure that we will see it go from strength to strength, as we build upon the experience of the last three years. In particular, I believe that we will highlight the benefits of working within Professional Services throughout the City and County. I hope the festival emphasise the high-quality employment opportunities available in our area and will help to improve graduate retention”

The Business Festival is the region’s largest business event, which last year engaged with over 1,000 different businesses and saw more than 10,000 attendees go to 154 events.

The majority of events are completely free to attend, but tickets must be booked in advance through the LBF website www.leicesterbusinessfestival.com or the new LBF app - available to download for free from Google Play or the Apple store.

Along with headline partners, Leicester Castle Business School, the 2018 Festival has the support of well-known business organisations including East Midlands Chamber; LLEP Business Gateway; East Midlands Airport; Brewin Dolphin; University of Leicester School of Business; Highcross and the FSB.

Other supporters include Everards Brewery; De Montfort University; Pattersons Commercial Law; Growth Partners PLC and the Institute of Directors, as well as official app partner Infonote, AV media partner, The Presentation Group and media partners, Cross Productions and Capital Radio.
